Term 2 of our Portuguese Level 1 course is a great introduction to the Portuguese language. The course is designed for complete beginners.

Classes run every Tuesday Evening from 7.15pm to 9.00pm from 10th January 2023 for 10 weeks (excluding half term).

Summary

Our Portuguese Level 1 course is designed for complete beginners. It's an ideal introduction to the Portuguese language for holidaymakers and business people or for those learners who want to experience what learning a language with us is like. The course is fun and interactive. Although emphasis is on speaking and listening, you will learn to read and write in Portuguese too.

There will be role-plays, activities based on common scenarios and you'll be introduced to basic grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.

This course will take place over 10 weeks and is Term 2 of a 3 Term Course (term 3 will be offered later in the academic year). This means that the full Portuguese Level 1 course takes place over 30 weeks in total.

Payment

Once you have completed your application form to join the course, you will be contacted by a member of the Evening Class Team to make your payment via WorldPay with your debit or credit card. We will hold your place up to 7 days to allow you to make your payment.

Concessionary rates are available only to those who are full time students and those we are in receipt of unemployment benefits. Evidence of your status will be requested by a member of the Evening Class Team, before payment is taken.

You can pay for one term (10 weeks) or save 5% and pay for terms two and three in advance (20 weeks). See costs below.

The deadline for all payments and therefore bookings will be Tuesday 3rd January 2023 (unless the class is already fully booked at this point).

Our courses are popular and often oversubscribed so we advise you to book your place as soon as possible.

Outcomes

This course is aimed at those that have no prior (or very little) prior knowledge of the target language. By the end of this course you should be able to hold a basic conversation in the target language, asking and answering simple questions, give opinions and make requests. You should also be able to read basic written text as well as write short statements. Your course will cover topics such as:

· Talking about your personal circumstances, where you live, your job, your background · Using the language to order drinks, snacks or meals in a restaurant and finding your way around · Using language in the relevant country on holiday, accommodation, travel and weather · Giving simple opinions and making requests
