This course will take you on a relaxed, fascinating journey through Latin America’s vibrant culture, local traditions, and complex political history.

Perfect for anyone at Spanish Level 2 or above, the programme breaks away from standard grammar drills to explore the real stories and forces that shaped the continent. You will dive into the region's diverse heritage while exploring the pivotal historical events, colonial legacies, and political movements that define modern Latin American countries in a friendly, welcoming environment.

The key objectives of the programme are to deepen your historical knowledge while naturally expanding your practical language skills. By analysing critical turning points—from independence movements and social revolutions to contemporary political shifts—you will gain a genuine understanding of how regional identities and modern nations were formed.

Ultimately, the course aims to move your Spanish beyond the textbook, giving you the context, political vocabulary, and cultural insight needed to discuss real-world topics with confidence.

Concessionary rates are available only to those who are full time students and those we are in receipt of unemployment benefits. Evidence of your status will be requested by a member of the Evening Class Team, before payment is taken.

You can pay for one term (10 weeks) or save £30 and pay for the entire academic year in advance (30 weeks). See costs below. The deadline for all payments and therefore bookings will be 48 hours after you have made your booking (otherwise your booking will be cancelled).
