**This full day course includes two separate sessions on two vital Lean skills: Collaborative Planning, and Value Stream Mapping.
If you would like to achieve the LCI-UK Standard in each of these skills, please book a 'part-two' workshop separately. On completion of the full standard, LCI-UK can apply for CITB grant funding on behalf of eligible candidates (employees of levy registered companies), and upload achievements to the Construction Training Register.
Collaborative Planning
Collaborative Planning is a Lean Construction method that unites contractors, trades, and project managers to jointly plan and coordinate project activities. By fostering shared ownership of a visual, real-time plan, it improves communication, reduces waste, and ensures work is delivered efficiently and on schedule.
Course Overview
Half-day standalone workshop in Collaborative Planning and Production Control - ideal for those new to the concept or for those seeking to embed Lean practices in projects.
Participants will:
- Understand the fundamentals of Collaborative Planning and Production Control.
- Develop a 12-week collaborative plan they can tailor to a specific project.
- Learn to run effective weekly production control meetings.
- Leave with a usable plan and confidence to apply it immediately.
Value Stream Mapping
Value Stream Mapping (VSM) visually maps all steps in a process to identify and eliminate waste. It helps teams understand material and information flows, enabling smarter decisions that improve efficiency, reduce delays, and enhance value delivery.
Course Overview
This course introduces participants to the principles and practical use of Value Stream Mapping. Through an interactive activity, participants will map, analyse, and improve construction processes - culminating in how to create a future-state plan with actionable improvements.
